Stanley Black and Decker Forklift/Material Handler - Paint Department in Holliston, Massachusetts

Fork Truck Operation

  1. Move material throughout facility.

Painting - from Housing Line to stock, stock to paint line.

  1. Determine the needs of production employees and deliver appropriate material or product in a timely and responsive manner.

Painting - deliver housing to the paint line. Communicate to Material Handler what has to be done to housings, i.e. bases pre-drill housings if needed.

Shipping and receiving -

  1. Deliver miscellaneous parts, raw material, work in process and finished goods to correct location.

  2. Maintains certification to drive a fork truck (electric or gas powered) through the National Safety Council.

  3. Learns LISTA's processes: flow of material through manufacturing process. Learns parts features and is able to recognize up to 8 different major categories of parts and materials.

  4. Condenses work in process in order to maintain effective use of space.

  5. Uses discretion and problem solving: works independently in support of team effort.

  6. Cross trains in a variety of positions.

Painting - crosstrain as a Material Handler and in other paint department responsibilities.

Shipping and receiving -

  1. Works as a team member to ensure well coordinated process within the department and between departments.

Preventive Maintenance

  1. Performs routine safety checklist at the beginning of each shift as well as routine maintenance procedures on the fork truck. This includes battery and truck maintenance and the safety checklist.

Fabrication - use the "log sheet" (eight step checklist).

Painting - use the "log sheet" (eight step checklist).

Shipping and receiving -

  1. Report any problems with the vehicle immediately.

  2. At the end of each shift plug battery in for charging. Change battery when required.

Safety and Housekeeping

  1. Conforms to Health and Safety requirements and company policy.

  2. Adheres to fork truck operation, machine operation and department guidelines.

  3. Wears required safety apparel such as safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and back braces.

  4. Uses proper lifting techniques. (May lift up to 35 lbs., anything over 35 pounds with apparatus assistance.)

  5. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

  6. Wears required hearing protection.

Departmental Duties

  1. The following are special responsibilities that are performed depending on which department the fork truck operator supports.

Fabrication -

Painting - drilling of housings, welding supports, cleaning lock bars and preventative maintenance within the department.

Shipping and receiving -

Impact:

Results in products of high finished quality and satisfied customers as well as reduced rework.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, anything over 35 pounds with apparatus assistance.

Pushing material in cart or with handjack of up to 2,000 lb. Highly repetitive.

Mental Requirements:

Ability to read, write, perform basic math calculations, and communicate clearly.

Ability to organize and coordinate tasks; inspect, estimate, interpret, and use judgement.

Special Requirements:

Flexible to accept changes in work assignments as required to meet the customer requirements. Versatile and capable to operating several machines and performing varied operations and assignments. Regularity of attendance is essential to ensure a high quality product and smooth manufacturing operations.

Knowledge and Experience:

Certification for fork truck operation by the National Safety Council.

One-year fork truck experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to organize and prioritize own work and coordinate deliveries (JIT).
