The Job:

As a Vice President Enabling Functions Communications, you’ll be part of our internal communications team working as a hybrid employee. Reporting to the Vice President of Internal Corporate Communications, the Vice President of Enabling Functions Communications for SBD will lead a team of seasoned communicators to develop high impact global communications that advance the strategies of enabling functions such as Human Resources, and the company’s business objectives. As a highly strategic and visionary leader, this person will hone and implement the enabling functions’ communication strategies to effectively engage employees and other key stakeholders, working collaboratively with Human Resources, Marketing, Public Relations, Investor Relations, and Government Relations on integrated communication solutions.

Working closely with enabling functions leadership, this communications leadership role will play a key role in accelerating business transformation efforts, particularly in advancing our talent & culture strategy to amplify engagement for a world-class employee experience. This leader is charged with overseeing a team who develops compelling narratives and interactive presentations for internal audiences, effectively plans large-scale, project-based and change communications, and maintains a cadence of internal communication rhythms including frequent engagement activity, quarterly town halls, and other ad hoc events. You’ll get to:

  • Lead a team of seasoned communicators ranging from Directors to Specialists.

  • Develop and implement communication strategy and plans in support of the enabling functions strategies and our overall business objectives.

  • Influence alignment across a complex stakeholder landscape to drive integrated communication solutions.

  • Guide leaders at all levels within the Enabling Functions to lead with empathy, demonstrate our leadership principles and implement communication rhythms that keep employees connected and engaged.

  • Craft and deploy written and visual communications for key business initiatives tailored to different internal stakeholders.

  • Leverage existing channels and create new channels to enhance employee collaboration globally.

  • Champion feedback channels to inform communication and leader engagement strategies, including employee surveys, roundtables and change agent networks at the business level.

  • Lead change communication strategies for organizational structure changes, business development projects, and large-scale initiatives focused on our business transformation strategy.

  • Maintain and utilize key measures of success and data-driven metrics to refine communication approaches and actions.

  • Partner with HR and business partners to drive employee engagement in the enabling functions and communicate a succinct and compelling employee value proposition/employer brand.

The Person:

  • 15-20+ years of experience in Communications, Marketing, or related field, with demonstrated experience leveraging communication tools to support key strategic initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Business Administration, Marketing, Human Resources or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Leader with an innovative, growth mindset who excels at identifying and embedding contemporary tools and practices for communication.

  • Ability to translate strategy and concepts into high-impact visual presentations, including PowerPoint, video and social/digital content.

  • Understanding of and experience with leading change management within a corporate environment.

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing industry preferred.

  • Ability to travel as needed (typically no more than 20% of the time).
